i don't claim to be an expert on jer politics, and i often feel like i don't quite fully understand. But one thing i've picked up over the past cu of years is that you should always detect bulchit when you see people talking about another country as if theyare another species,. Like as if china and russia aren't countries full of human beings who will act in their rational self interest, ok? And in the same way that we expect to be able to act in our own interest as as a nation or as a society, and assert our own sovereignty - all that applies them too. We can't exhibit any kind of trust or put ourselves in their shoes
