The idea was for between four and seven years, if the graph API just made it much easier than it was before. Facebook basically would let developers who signed up with Facebook and were a registered developer to get user data. And you ended up in a situation where people wanted to do apps or whatever it might be that had a Facebook login. They no one actually quick through to see what permissions they're giving away.
