What's the Neutral Rate of Interest When We Have High Inflation?
The question was, since we have high inflationr higher than we used to have, what would the fed consider the neutral rate of interest to be? And as usual, pall sidestepped the question and didn't really answer it. If you have negative seven % real interest rates, you're not neutral. You are highly stimulative. When rates are so far below the rate of inflation, you are paying people to go into debt. That's a very different thing than if inflation is at nine % and the feds at two%.
