Jessica Hooten-Wilson is the inaugural Seever College Scholar of Liberal Arts at Pepperdine University. Her book called Giving the Devil His Due, Flannery O'Connor and the Brothers Caramatsoff received a 2018 Christianity Today Book of the Year award. Caitlin talked to her about why so many Protestants have difficulty with engaging the spiritual side of literature. She says it isn't primarily about self-improvement which is how so many evangelicals are taught to think about it.
