The Wagner Group's Role in Ukraine
There are about 50,000 fighters with the Wagner group and probably about 10,000 of them are hardened, well-trained, special forces style mercenaries. The Russian military feels that Pragozan is undermining their authority because he's such a loose cannon they feel that he is actually a thorn in their side rather than a help. One of Vladimir Putin's most important jobs is to act as the balancer and mediator between all of the power centers in Russia like the Ministry of Defense and the Wagner group.
