There was a strong contingent of nationalists, so to speak. There you had your george masons, your roger sherman's and others that would advocate for the smaller states. The new york delegation, other than hamilton, who left after a spell, was a strong sort of anti federal contingent. But unfortunately, madison had things so well planned out, had his virginia plan ready to go.
