Risk is not looking at the past. And pushing it forward, he says. An individual working with adviser has two characteristics that make the standard approach of risk management wrong or incomplete. A lot of what they read about, and a lot of what people were bat in the press, is noise. If you've got a time frame measured in five, ten, 20, third years, you also are leverage. You don't have clients who might pull the plug and redeem. The other thing that's really important is that risk comes from two sides.
