How to Treat a Malletation Patient
In general most patients with symptomatic malletation present within the first month of life. These lab bands or congenital adhesions can cause extrinsic duodenal obstruction which leads to Billy's MS's. If there was some vowel compromise at the initial operation I might wait a period of time for them to have return a vowel function and essentially wait until they're tolerating a regular diet and their vowels are functioning normally before discharge home.
