The History of Wokism

Wokism means something that has no importance or value, little worth. Some definitions in other dictionaries can be quite negative. It's a term which actually goes back quite a while and comes from the African-American vernacular. In that sense, it means originally alerts to racial prejudice and discrimination. If you were a black American who was woke in 1930, you knew about the injustices in the system.
