What Happened to the Egyptians?
Rashi tells us that pharaoh had to cajole the people to pursue he promised them money. He says, i'm not going to go back of the line. Amnot could be like all the other kings. Imant to go ahead of everyone. And by presenting the people with those arguments, pharaoh was successful in lobbying them to follow him. Rashi: Even the cornco god fearing egyptians were the ones who hunted the jews down in hot pursuit.
