The Importance of Nero in Revelation
In the East, Nero became the one who didn't die, but who was taken over there. The model he's using for Christ returning to be plausible to people at that time is Nero. So where is John going to get a persuasive image of Christ coming back? He doesn't use the word parousia. That's only Paul's word. But coming back, coming back to destroy. Where is the model for it? The model for it is Nero,. we say, and that Nero already veev us. Revelation would be turning over in his grave, kicking, screaming at the very idea of that.
