The Problem With IRBs
The idea that researchers are the natural enemies of research subjects is just not an accurate description of how people work. Americans want to tell you about their lives, and if you ask them, the problem isn't digging the information out; it's stopping the flow. The main result of IRBs is they make sure that every year the informed consent form on average gets longer. And we know that they don't read the forms anyway and don't care.
