Is There Unlimited Extravagance in Plutarch?
There's quite a lot of these stories that Plutarch's telling. Is the idea that we are shocked by this as an audience or impressed by the lavish nature of it all? I feel like it's still possible to do that if you think about TV or movies too. You can put yourself up on a pedestal above them while enjoying seeing all of this extravagance that you're never going to live through.
