When i think about my experiences on the fringe of church, youth group and as involved a single young adult in my church, i'm struck by the realization that it was not the flashy, one time events like church retreats that are the basis of my faith. Yes, there's so much wrong with the church, purity culture, toxic charity, narcisistic leaders, abusive leaders, et cetera. Big events like retreats or the passion conferenc can be fun, inspiring an potentially life changing, in an evangelical way. But it's a small mandain, details of sharing weekly life with one another, especially in trying times, that make the biggest difference in our faith
