The Beta-Amyloid Theory of Alzheimer's Disease
FDA has approved two controversial new drugs for this devastating disorder. Both medications work by reducing beta-amyloid plaque in the brain. It's not clear how much they will actually help patients with things like memory or activities of daily living. Dr. Donald Weaver is a medicinal chemist as well as a clinical neurologist working on developing new therapies for Alzheimer's disease.
