Open Street Maps - What Are They?

For most of my life maps were utility. You buy a map because it helps you achieve some other goal. Then they become entertainment, like in open street maps. In the self-driving car world, which is really not far away at all, you don't need a map on the screen anymore. I think maps are going to be automated. And that's a good thing. We replace a lot of humans with spreadsheets or whatever and we just make these maps automatically. And then I think maps will diffuse and become part of the background radiation of the universe.
