The Fugitive Slave Act of 1850 - And What Happened to Wood?
The fugitive slave act accelerated the number of kidnapping and re enslavements that were absolutely, you know, kidnapping was something that enslave people always feared. But with the fugitive slave law of 18 50, there's a real economic incentive to get people back into slavery. And so henrietta word gets caught up in this world as well, where people are duping other people. They are blackmailing e there, paying off people, there, taking bribes, all in order to get as many people as they can a back into this horrific system.
