There seems to be something extremely deep and motivated reasoning going on. And so if we have animals that are eaten, then there's this just purely pragmatic consequentialist risk. Eventually those animals are not seen as deserving of their own conscious iteration. The other thing is long-term thinking. If you kind of want to end the current abolition and sorry, the current animal exploitation system, but prevent it from reemerging. It seems likely to me that if you just have a blanket ban on this, then that's going to stand more chance of preventing reemergence than allowing high welfare systems.
