I had a very good pandemic. My wife and I were alone in this apartment here in New York, which is lessedly fairly spacious. And we were happy in each other's company. We watched as so many people did an enormous amount of long form television and foreign languages. So we were both having the joy of secondhand cosmopolitanism. It was like a monastic life and there's a lot to be said for amonastic life. Funny thing about a monasticLife is that it makes the days longer rather than shorter because it fills the day with so many essential activities.
