The Shame of Prayer

The Our Father comes from a gospel recording of Jesus when asked by his disciples, how is it that I pray. Do you think that the Our Father is supposed to be recited in maybe a word for word or at least statement for statement fashion? It seems to me that this is sort of a general shame that we as Christians can follow in our prayers but not to be something that is said by rote memorization.
