Doctor spencer is director of global health and emergency medicine at columbia university. Omicron causes milder disease than previous variants of the virus, he says. But his concern is that even if omicron is half as likely to put you in the hospital as delta or other previous variants, we're seeing two to three to four to five times as many cases on a daily basis.
