Neural Network Approaches - How Do They Work?
We use explainable ai tools to track the predictions back through network. That is, when the network gets the prediction right, where was it putting its emphasis or its focus on those input fields? In doing that, we can actually make maps of the parts of the sea surface that are most important and lead to predictable behavior elsewhere in the coming months. We do want to trust our network, don't get me wrong but we also want to learn new science.
