Leaders always come from having been builders, or still are builders. And that first and foremost already teaches you you can create value out of nothing. I think in so many functions, it's the feeling of like i'm either reliant on other people to create value, or i'm taking away value from someone else. Well, an engineering is one of the only places where you yourself have full control over the value that you create from scratch.
