The B a Is a Prerequisite for an Interview

Enormous economic and social value comes from a nearly meaningless piece of paper. Except for a handful of majors in the hard sciences, a b a tells an employer next to nothing about what the degree holder has learned. The corps curricula that once insured a solid grounding in history, philosophy, the natural sciences, great literature and the arts have all but disappeared from colleges. Many young people who cannot do well in the four year residential college programme leading to a b a could do well in other educational configurations if such alternatives were available.
