The Origin of the Typewriter
The typewriter, as you can expect, had very different demands from that of firearms. And the manufacturing techniques that remington had perfected with making firearms, they found had real benefits in terms of learning how to simplify the typewriter design. One of the very first things samel colt's firms pioneered was the creation of precise gauges so that you could measure carefully what the tolerances were of the products you were making. Ultimately, ros points out the success of the united states in this was greatly aided by the fact that the machines, the the people who made the machines were initially the corporation themselves.
