Nick Lane is a reader in biochemistry at University College London. His book Life Ascending looks at the 10 great inventions of life including DNA, photosynthesis, movement and sight. He says we may well find out how life truly started though. To be fair that is probably quite unlikely. Yet we've come up with the exact answer on radio four panel shows I'm sure.
