Cleopatra's History
Cleopatra was born about 300 years after her father Ptolemy XII. Alexandria is a planned city in the Greek style, with compact streets arranged in an organized grid. It's kind of the New York of its age, people want to go there and look at it and experience it. She learns Greek grammar, rhetoric and philosophy, and is fascinated by pharmacology and medicine. But as the country teetres on bankruptcy, civil unrest breaks out in Alexandria. The ousted Pharaoh believes his only hope of regaining his throne lies in fostering cordial relationships with the Romans.
