The Impact of John Stuart Mill's Marriage on Women
John Stuart Mill was brought up in a very masculine environment. He doesn't mention his mother in his autobiography. And then he meets a woman who is not only attractive, but actually he sees as his intellectual equal. The impact on him must surely have influenced his determination that women should be liberated. But unfortunately, Harriet Taylor Mill didn't and she died young.
