Congressional action in 1987 led to a ban on in-flight smoking. In 1988, airlines based in the United States, ban smoking on domestic flights of less than two hours. Then in February of 1990, they extended that. So you could not smoke on domestic flights less than six hours. And think about it. What's really what's a six hour domestic flight in the US? It's a Hawaii.
