The Origins of Neoliberalism

Originally liberalism was you could say a child of the enlightenment of enlightenment rationalism. The idea was that it was not reasonable to have traditions that would not allow people to freely express themselves whether in economic terms or political terms. Now, what has happened in the 20th century and especially with neoliberalism is that they were very closely aligned with, quote, tradition, conservative. And I think that tension then broke out in the open in the 1980s with Reagan and Thatcher taking the conservative line.
