The Psychological Verifiability of the Concept of Reality

In 1000 Things Worth Knowing, Paul explores the ways in which art can test our notions of reality. He says we are constantly testing psychological verifiability to find out if a fact is true or not. Joyce's obsession with Ulysses was because he realized that one does have to test art against some notion of reality. The New Yorker poetry department had a fact checker who would point out how many clouds weighed as much as a 747 - and they were onto it immediately.
