The Importance of Creativity

You have to remember that nothing is owed to you. There's tremendous anxiety to be had in any creative field because it is so unpredictable. The jobs that I had starting off as a writer 20 years ago don't exist anymore. People who are less talented than you will do better than you do. Creativity is not a trade. It never has been. You must remember that. And nobody owes you anything. Your obligation is to the creative process that you love. It's on you and it's flighty. It's unpredictable.
