There are some situations where, ok, it makes sense for us to feel a little shame about something that happened. But often we feel a lot of unnecessary shame when our wants and needs are totally understandable. We then distinguished between guilt and shame. Guilt looks outward. You feel bad for some specific behavior you did. Shame looks inward. We feel bad because of our nature. I'm a bad person for having done this thing. And because of that, it's kind of a selfish emotion. So it happens while we isolate ourselves in our shame. Or maybe we take up behaviours that cause us to feeling a little bit es shame in the moment, or allow us to avoid or numb ourselves
