You could do the right things, perhaps, accidentally, but you couldn't be rationally virtuous without a kind of wisdom. The perfectly wise man can attain his own happiness precisely in turning out from ourselves. A selfish pursuit of what is best for me isn't going to fulfill me as a rational creature.
