Lucky shot from french artillery blew out austrian ammunition. 300 republican cavalry under francois etienne kellerman arrived to support the attack. They immediately galloped into act, smashing the austrian horsemen and pushing all the way into the enemy rear. The timing could not have been better for the french as they were about to a counter attack.
