The History of Money
In a barter economy, absent money, we're still trying to trade with each other. We still want to store our wealth to control the future in various ways. Our wealth has a symbolic value in various ways as a symbol of achievement. So all of the things that then money is trying to improve upon by introducing that medium of exchange do presuppose that you have an economy engaging in production and trade ... I think it's going to be largely accidental.
