Helen: I think one of the things that you do within this text that's so important is establishing lesbian subtext as a reading practice. Meg: If I was writing it today, well, of course, I wouldn't have to do what I did in that essay. Helen: You just asked about how important it is or was to look at literature from an explicitly, let's name perspective right? Meg: Absolutely. That had not been done to my knowledge ever before, at least not in any source that I could myself identify and find.
