Saverian and Volus

Saverian sees Volus on the ground trying to defend himself from someone else. That's when he feels the real sympathy and later on we'll learn when Saverian becomes captain what he does to the apprentices to establish his place in the order. We'll learn later that Saverian does not know who his parents are. And when later we're all talking about things in like two chapters, so like we're not spoiling anything. Yeah. It doesn't make a lot of sense that he would side with the quote unquote bad guys. He just watched them pull a body out of a grave. For some reason he sides with them over the volunteers who are protecting the grave
