The Runaway Theory - Is Laurie a Criminal?

The runaway theory is that laurie was a battered woman on the run. The 402 months sentence makes it seem like she may have taken advantage of the system to escape her past. But other than identity theft, there's really no indication that she was a criminal. Is it possible for laurye to have been so horrible a criminal as to draw a more than 30 years sentence, but seemingly leave no trace in the system of her escape? It just doesn't make sense.
