Is it possible for a politician to reign in public spending? It just doesn't seem like there's ever been the political will. We have over 6 and a half million civil servants, public employees. That's about six or seven times more than we had in the nineteenth century. And of course, eveybody in the public sector, by definition, is not a wealth creator. They're a wealth consumer. So wouldn't that mean austerity, if we cut public spending? This is not the time for austerity. But here, the funny thing is, an austerity, it isn't cutting public spending. That isn't austerity.
