I think my parents would like me to have followed probably a more conventional path. They wanted me to go off at the age of 11. I was told I could get scholarships to these very posh in Britain. So I didn't and I went to a grammar school thinking that was the best of both worlds. But my school was actually collapsing and it turned comprehensive in a couple of years anyway, because the Labour government did away with them. It was an interesting and strange place to be.
