The Importance of Nerve Study in Hand Surgery
Ultrasound and the CTS6 have both been shown to be more sensitive and specific in diagnosing carpal tunnel syndrome than electro diagnostic studies. EDS represented nearly one half of the cost of the pre-operative care in nearly 400,000 patients with CTS. A lot of hand surgeons still will either require a nerve study prior to an appointment or grant an appointment for Carpal Tunnel based on a survey of hand study members.
