The History of Nuclear Weapons
In nuclear fission, when uranium atoms get hit by a neutron, they become one neutron heavier. This leads to the creation of plutonium that is useful in weapons. Heavy types of plutonium are not good for weapons. That's why you have reactor-grade plutonium and weapons-grade plutonium. It has been quickly removed from the reactor before these heavier forms of plutonium build-in.
