The Immaterial Connection

In the tomistic understanding of the soul, the a connection one would have with god would be an immaterial connection. It wouldn't be a material act of the brain. So what shows up on brain imaging may be the the material response to the immaterial connection - or could even bea suppression of activity in the occipital lobes. The questions are so fiendishly tricky and it's difficult to know how to interpret them.
