The Civil War Between the King and Parliament
In august 16, forty two charles raised the royal standard at nottingham and began gathering a makeshift army of his supporters. And parliament then responded in kind with their own armies and militias. The different groups who rallied to these two sides had different social profiles. So this is where you get these sort of architypes of cavaliers and roundheads. These two sides engaged in a long, fairly brutal and destructive civil war from 16 forty two to forty six.
