Importing Chinese Workers in Jamaica
In 18 11, four years after britain got out of the transatlantic slave trade, jamaica was exploring importing chinese labor to supplement african slave labor. The slavery abolition act of 18 33 was passed, which put an end to that peculiar institution on august first, 18 34. So without slavery, the plantation owners of jamaica had to pivot to a new model.
