The Alternative to Ajivaka Fatalism and Chavaka Moral Skepticism

For a Chavaka there are no reasons to act morally because there are no moral reasons for action. This attitude lent itself to a hedonist ethic, which allowed that deliberative action is possible but claimed only one thing can guide our deliberations. If one is to counter the doctrines of fate and chance, one needs to show that there are moral motivations for action. That is why the doctrine of Kādama was taught as a simple and effective solution to a tricky problem.
