The Pain of Transition Periods

Tucker Carlson says he would never allow self-driving trucks on the road because of all the truckers who would lose their jobs. But what I say is, suppose we lived in an alternate universe in which goods could be instantaneously transported simply by thinking about it and no trucks were necessary. Would you go around saying, I hate this world I've been born into because now no one will be able to drive a truck for a living? You wouldn't try to spend your life defying it or figuring out ways to frustrate it.
