The Challenges of the Italian State in the Archaeological Sector
Private entities are not governed by laws that govern the spending of state money. It is perfectly possible to do these things well, it's what is so difficult is for the italian state,. operating under its public worksa legislation to do that. I would say it would take a minimum of 20 years of sustained work on the site of pompei to reverse the enormous decline. But the ray of hope comes from the fact that italy was not always like this. Back in the days of post war italy, amadeo mayuri found it possible to run his sit with a group of very skilled workmen and do work pretty efficiently. So our bad things happened even even then.
