The Importance of Having a Broad-Based Background in PE

Having a technology background is really important in having a widespread background. You don't have to be, if you are the best network engineer in the world, they're not going to be hiring you as an operating partner at a PE firm. The prestige of McKinsey, it's going to feel to you as, as that guy is a much less prestigious job as going in. I'd rather see him or her doing some little bit lower level consulting. Having a vision strategy is great, but I think, you know, implementation people not strategic strategy.
